Melissa Klimo-Major, E-RYT 200, is a Cleveland based vinyasa yoga teacher on a mission to make the practice of yoga accessible to everyone.
Her desire to live freely inspires those around her to cultivate ownership of their own lives. She attracts those who go their own way and believe in their deepest dreams. MKM evolves on her path by staying humble, grateful, and inspired.
In 2012, Melissa completed a 300 hour yoga certification with Awaken Yoga School in Mentor, Ohio, and is currently continuing her education through a 500 hour Yoga Medicine certification and a 300 hour Advanced Yoga Psychology training. Initially trained in vinyasa flow, her evolving studies and personal growth have added strong elements of pranayama and a focused awareness on alignment, while maintaining the freedom of flow in her teaching style.
In 2014, she took her instruction out of the studio by incorporating two of her passions– yoga and beer– into popular event brand Balance & Brews®, after a series of successful studio-based yoga and beer workshops in 2013. Balance & Brews®/Balance & Barrels™ continue to be industry-leading names in event yoga, hosting events at breweries, coffee roasteries, wineries, and distilleries around the country.
Travel is another of MKM's passions. Along with frequent international travel and remote living adventures with her husband, Sean, she creates as many opportunities to take her yoga on the road as she can. She co-hosted her first international yoga retreat in Costa Rica in 2013, her first yoga and beer retreat in 2014, and her first cross country yoga and beer tour in 2016, as a co-founder of The Beer Yogis.
From studio to brewery to seaside yoga deck, Melissa creates a grounded space and strong intention for every practice. Her creative flow sequences offer variations and freedom to explore in a practice that is welcome to brand new practitioners, seasoned yogis, and everyone in between. She acknowledges the elements, moods, and emotions in any space and introduces themes to translate these surroundings and feelings into sources of power. Melissa's intention in teaching is for each person to feel empowered: to claim their freedom, balance, strength, and peace.
